The Chemistry Department at Reed College is seeking immediate applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position, with a possible one-year extension, starting in August 2023. This opportunity has arisen due to unexpectedly high enrollments. The successful candidate would contribute to the general chemistry labs and lectures (Chem 101, 102) and would advise senior thesis students in year-long chemistry and/or biochemistry-related research projects. If appointed to a second year, the candidate would have the opportunity to contribute to an upper division physical chemistry course (e.g. statistical thermodynamics). The successful candidate will have access to active mentoring and relevant course materials.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. by the start date of the position. Post-doctoral research experience or teaching experience is appreciated, but not required. The Chemistry Department has excellent resources for teaching and research, including dedicated research lab space and internal access to project funding.
