R&D Technician Hiring for R&D Technician Job at Suring, WI Full Time

JOB SUMMARY:

The R&D Technician is a hands-on role that provides support to New Product Development (NPD) and Engineering in making mock-up cabinets and prototypes, testing prototypes and hardware, assisting with special cabinets/projects as needed, and providing production support as available. This position will have multiple responsibilities primarily focused on constructing new products, conducting R&D efforts and testing, and assisting engineering.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

• Create physical prototypes of new or existing products needed by NPD or Engineering departments.
• Reviews and adheres to shop drawings and communicates discrepancies within shop drawings for new products and modified products.
• Test, document, and review prototypes to suggest improvements.
• Ensure that prototypes and products are completed in full and meet product specifications, regulatory requirements (i.e. SEFA), and specified quality levels.
• Update and maintain job/project work logs and reports, ensuring that R&D data is properly documented and communicated.
• Provide technical and physical support to production floor, quoting, purchasing and QC as available.
• Develop and provide fixtures/jigs for production floor.
• Assist in failure analysis, troubleshooting, rework/repair of non-conforming manufactured product.
• Communicate technical design or process change recommendations to improve efficiency and performance to NPD and Engineering departments.
• Monitor or measure manufacturing processes to identify ways to reduce losses, time of work input, or improve quality of process via LEAN concepts and methodologies.
• Ability to operate machines in conjunction with computer software to produce parts needed for R&D.
• Participate in project meetings and collaborate closely with others in the NPD and Engineering departments.
• Prioritize tasks among and between projects and effectively communicate priorities.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Responsible for managing Show crates, booth mock-ups, and inventory/shipping prep of Show product.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently and complete work in a timely manner
• Ability to develop and execute a detailed test plan for products in R&D
• Extreme organizational skills and high level of attention to detail
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Proactive communication skills, must be a team player and able to work closely with others.
• Working knowledge of general computer applications.
• Ability to learn quickly and be an effective multi tasker to take on new projects as needed.
• Must present a professional company image.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate’s Degree (two year college or technical school) or equivalent experience preferred.
• 1-2 years related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to efficiently use various software applications including MS Office, AutoCAD and CNC programming software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
• Walking, lifting up to 75 lbs as needed
• Ability to utilize various hand and power tools to create physical products
