A Purchasing Supervisor job is available with The City of Fort Worth in the Property Management Department, which consists of four divisions including Facilities Management, Fleet Services, Real Property and General Services. The City of Fort Worth Property Management Department (PMD) is seeking to hire a qualified professional to fill the Purchasing Supervisor position reporting to the Purchasing Manager of the General Services Division. PMD is a large, fast paced, and rewarding department that is responsible for a wide array of services including: maintenance of the majority of City facilities, maintaining the City’s fleet, land and property acquisitions including right-of-way and easement acquisitions.
An opportunity is available for highly seasoned and accomplished professional to lead the Property Management Department’s citywide vehicle and equipment procurement. Seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to perform duties associated with managing the purchase and decommission of the City’s vehicles and equipment; monitor and evaluate the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of purchasing programs, delivery methods and procedures; and work with employees on the continuous improvement and timely delivery of vehicles and equipment.
The selected candidate will be the central point of communication with the Purchasing Division in the Financial Management Services Department and all other departments awaiting the purchase of vehicles/equipment. This person will provide leadership, guidance, organization, and direction to the fleet acquisition team. Furthermore, this position will be responsible for evaluating existing processes, make recommendations on streamlining and enhancing processes, prioritize the procurement of vehicles and equipment and minimize/eliminate the backlog while fulfilling current requests and prevent a further backlog. He/she will execute procurement duties, including the analysis of technical specifications, training and contract management as well as be responsible for the strategic and tactical aspects of the Property Management’s vehicle and equipment procurement program. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and orally to make project presentations to all levels of the organization; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; and have an analytical approach to decision-making. The candidate should be able to think independently and work with minimal supervision when provided with a task or objective.
