ProMet Steel is currently looking to fill an Inside Sales/Customer Service position in our Frankfort office. The official objective of the Inside Sales Department is to assist the Sales Department in the processes of prospecting, qualifying, offering, negotiating and closing sales. Inside Sales will work parallel to the Sales Department by (1) giving salesmen the maximum amount of time to sell, and (2) save time on all processes in any way possible. Overall Purpose:
Assist Sales department in meeting or exceeding company sales objectives through direction of Inside Sales Manager/VP Account Services.
Primary Daily Responsibilities
1. Order Entry
· Enter all purchase orders into FileMaker in SM format.
· Ensure all SMs accurately reflect specifications indicated on original PO.
· Ensure orders are corrected if necessary.
2. Order Application
· Include a general plan for order fulfillment with each SM when submitted.
· Allocate specific coils for application (if needed).
· Ensure all orders are applied within 24 hours of order submission (or in accordance to Promet policy).
· Ensure that steel is in-stock for current orders.
· If material is not available for current orders, check POT listing or with purchasing department for incoming material.
· Inspect set-up sheets for accuracy and efficiency.
· Communicate any application obstacles to merchandising and sales
3. Order Processing
· Ensure all jobs are in the production schedule for processing.
· Check production completion times for accuracy.
· Ensure HFIs are approved/denied by sales within 24 hours (per policy).
· Follow-up on re-apps and replacement coils through merchandising
4. Order Shipment
· Process customer releases.
· Write-up all SRFs.
· Follow-up on any/all pre-shipping and post-shipping procedures.
· Ensure all processed SRFs are logged in the outbound schedule.
· Communicate any credit problems to sales.
5. Customer Interface
· Respond to any customer inquiries or requests in a timely fashion throughout the day.
6. Claims / Quality
· Write-up and submit all claims for processing.
· Ensure quality on consistently problematic items or customers.
· Review applied material for quality.
7. Sales Briefing / Debriefing
· Daily briefing with sales to discuss assigned daily tasks and any pending items or problems.
· Daily debriefing with sales to follow-up on tasks completed throughout the day.
8. Out-of-office Procedure
· Discuss necessary procedure and assignments when sales reps are out-of-office.
· Act as back-up when assigned sales reps are out-of-office.
Secondary Daily Responsibilities
1. Prospect
· Assist the Sales Department in the locating new accounts (when needed).
· Research leads for usage of Promet core material.
2. Anticipate
· Take pre-emptive action on high-risk orders and applications.
· Inspect finished and unfinished material for visual defects.
· Browse the inventory and POT for material to offer.
· Prepare data for weekly Blanket Order Review meeting.
Job Skills and Knowledge:
· 2-4 years of Sales/Customer Service experience required in a support role
· Experience in Steel Industry preferred
· Familiar with selling a business-to-business (B2B) product
· Ability to listen & follow directions well
· Strong written & verbal communication skills
· Time-management/organization skills
· Good phone etiquette
· Computer skills including Microsoft Office. Proficient typing accuracy & speed
· Strong at multi-tasking and prioritizing
· Ability to handle a large, diverse customer base
