The Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator of Access Programs will play a central role in advancing the diversity goals of the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS). The Coordinator will join the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) team whose charge is to lead and support divisional and departmental objectives to promote academic excellence by enhancing educational access and creating an inclusive climate to support the growth and success of our students, faculty, researchers, and staff.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, the coordinator will focus on administering and implementing recruitment efforts and signature programs in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. The role will also require assessing efforts for planning and reporting purposes. Programmatic examples include, Pathways to Graduate School and Pathways into the Academy aimed at enhancing access to the academy for high-potential prospective graduate students and faculty; Hidden Curriculum Series aimed at broadening participation in engineering disciplines; and summer programs such as the Princeton-Intel Research Experiences for Undergraduates.
The coordinator will be a part of a three-person team working closely with the Associate Dean and an Administrator to oversee inclusion efforts, communications, and events. The Coordinator will also liaise with other members of the Dean’s staff and colleagues at the university to effectively carry out their duties.
Key responsibilities specific to this role include managing logistical aspects related to implementing recruitment programs; developing recruitment leads through data mining and outreach efforts; drafting and distributing communications to support recruitment; and serving as the point person for the development of promotional materials and web content related to recruitment programs.
Responsibilities
Plan and oversee recruitment programs:• Plan, implement, and manage the logistics of recruitment programs: manage the application and reservation portals, organize program events, create and disseminate program information, implement programs, and administer surveys to assess outcomes.• Assess data from recruitment efforts and compare performance with previous years • Support graduate admissions process: pool building, review, and yield stages • Coordinate off−campus and on−campus recruitment visits and manage travel and lodging logistics related to programs and outreach• Manage and track programming expenditures for recruitment initiatives
Recruitment Communications:• Work closely with departments and D&I colleagues to develop recruitment communications to be disseminated to prospective students/faculty on lead lists • Collaborate with the SEAS Communications Team and the D&I Administrator to update web content for outward-facing audiences to enhance recruitment efforts • During Graduate Admissions season, manage responses to fee waiver requests and provide timely disbursement of waivers to external entities and vendors.• Manage and upload departmental requests for job postings in ad sites supported by the D&I team • Provide project updates to D&I Associate Dean and team
Lead Development:• Manage the development of high-potential graduate and faculty recruitment leads to be used in recruitment efforts to diversify the School of Engineering• Develop leads through a variety of means: datamining national databases; outreach efforts; and recommendation of faculty/colleagues• Purchase access to platforms and programs required for lead generation.
Program Assessment:• Active assessment of all recruitment efforts including Pathways programs, outreach efforts, graduate admissions, and faculty searches. • Assist Associate Dean to assess the efficacy of diversity initiatives and prepare data for quarterly and year-end reporting purposes.• Assist Associate Dean to review and reconcile annual recruitment budget as well as draft recruitment budget projections for the following fiscal year.• Other duties and projects as needed.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3+ years of work experience. Excellent organizational and communication skills with experience in project management, and data analysis are essential. The position requires a high degree of professionalism, responsiveness, adaptability, knowledge of DEI-related topics affecting access to educational opportunities, and ability to work as a team player.
We also seek a self−starter who is well-organized, detail−oriented, disciplined, flexible, able to engage with persons from a diverse array of backgrounds, and effective under pressure. Someone who is able to prioritize and execute multiple projects at once while exercising good judgment is also an essential quality for the successful candidate.
The ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion is essential, as is the willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred: Higher education experience in program development and management, recruitment, data management, DEI experience, and data analytics.
