Portland Community College is seeking a full-time Instructional Support Technician IV (1.0 FTE) to support the Bioscience Technology program (BIT). Under the direction of the Program Dean and in collaboration with the BIT faculty, the IST IV prepares laboratories and classrooms for instructors; plans and designs experiments/demonstrations and participates in the delivery of instruction. The IST IV also oversees the laboratory preparation work of other classified, casual and student workers, and is important for the management and safe operation of the Bioscience laboratory space. The IST IV is an integral part of the BIT team and will participate in departmental, advisory committee, and safety committee meetings. There may also be activities interacting with other members of the college and the general public to provide information about the program.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
Two years of post-secondary education in bioscience technology or related area such as biology, chemistry, or biochemistry (Relevant experience in Bioscience technology may substitute for the post-secondary education requirement on a year-for-year basis).
Three years of experience in bioscience technology or related area.
Must have proven written and oral communications skills adequate to assist students in understanding the work they are to perform.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

Work pressure, disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis. Changes in the performance environment require occasional upgrading of skills. Working conditions may be somewhat disagreeable requiring occasional exposure to safety hazards, noise and temperature extremes. Some learned physical skills are required. Physical effort such as frequent standing, walking and lifting; guiding and/or carrying of lightweight materials or equipment; occasional periods of sustained effort.
