Reporting to the Dean of Employee Learning and Development of Pierce College District, the Director of Inclusive Practices will advance the equity-centered mission of Pierce College by providing leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive, coordinated programs, curriculum, systems, and support of organizational development opportunities that promote equity-minded and inclusive practices for all Pierce College employees. Working as a leader on the Employee Learning and Development (ELAD) team, responsibilities for this position include strategic planning and implementation, facilitation and coordination, program development, leadership and management, and communication in relation to advancing inclusive practices.

Essential Functions
The Director of Inclusive Practices will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:
Management and Leadership:
Partners with the Dean of Employee Engagement, Learning and Development (ELAD) on budget management.
Partners with the Dean of ELAD on continual evaluation of ELAD programming and ensures alignment with Pierce College’s mission and strategic plan.
Collaborates with the Vice President for Equity, Innovation and Engagement to develop and implement campus-wide initiatives and projects related to inclusive practices.
Oversees the implementation and evaluation of the Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) program.
Manages a team of inclusivity specialists, providing guidance, supervision, and professional development opportunities.
Serves on relevant committees and working groups, such as EDI Council, and other committees focused on supporting inclusive practices and pedagogy.
Assigns and supervises the work of others on a project basis, including faculty contracted for special projects.
Facilitation and Coordination:
Works closely with Employee Resource Group (ERG) leaders to facilitate, coordinate and support employee engagement and belonging; duties include but are not limited to promoting meeting times, coordinating special events, activities, and educational opportunities, and arranging guest speakers as appropriate.
In collaboration with various institutional programs and departments, develops and implements workshops and/or trainings designed to improve the use of technology-enhanced teaching and learning; to encourage faculty to explore a variety of modes of teaching; and to increase awareness and knowledge around equity, diversity and inclusion. Ensures coordinated learning opportunities are focused on data-driven decision-making.
In collaboration with the Dean of ELAD and Associate Director of Faculty Excellence, interacts with ELAD professional instructional design and student retention staff and coordinates areas applicable to Faculty Excellence work.
Stays current with emerging literature, research, and approaches to teaching and learning; networks locally and nationally with other Centers for Teaching and Learning and/or Centers for Professional Development at the community college level; actively participates as a presenter or attendee at local and national conferences and/or workshops that involve a range of issues related to professional development; leads campus collaborations in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Program Supervision and Development:
Co-leads (with the Dean of ELAD) the professional development implementation of the college’s EDI plan.
Collaborates with the Achieving the Dream core team to align professional development opportunities in support of innovative practices centered on equitable student learning and success. Ties work to Institutional Capacities Framework (ICF) and EDI plan and Institutional Capacities Framework (ICF).
Compiles data, prepares reports, and presents findings to key stakeholders, especially as it relates to compliance with state and accreditation requirements.
Works with faculty and administrators to understand dynamic faculty needs around inclusive pedagogy and teaching development; develops medium and long-term plans for pedagogy workshops.
Works closely with the Dean of ELAD and Vice President of Equity, Innovation, and Engagement to develop and implement a comprehensive annual EDI professional development plan.
Coordinates logistics and supervises the organization of workshops and events.
Communication
Co-leads (with the Dean of ELAD) unified communication channels for professional development resources, including, but not limited to, maintenance of the ELAD web page, ELAD blog, ELAD annual calendar, Faculty Central, and systematic electronic and written correspondences.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education Required
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience Required
At least four (4) years of experience working in a higher education setting.
At least two (2) years of experience in faculty teaching.
A strong foundation in applying a social justice and equity theoretical framework to all aspects of program design, implementation, and evaluation.
Experience with collaborative work and shared leadership models.
Experience in project, change, and talent management.
Experience supervising professional staff and teams.
Required Competencies
Comprehensive knowledge of current and emerging research-supported best practices in the scholarship of inclusive practices, inclusive pedagogy, and teaching and learning.
Knowledge of best practices in program development, planning, and evaluation and the ability to produce innovative solutions.
Leadership skills to coach and mentor employees; models the organization’s commitment to mission fulfillment.
Possesses an understanding of cultural competencies and can work effectively with others from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent time management and problem-solving techniques, and the ability to use professional judgment in complex and sensitive situations.
Exhibits patience and persistence in introducing pedagogical content knowledge.
Communicates effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and leadership; applies effective written and oral communication techniques to convey clear and timely messages.
Ability to design and deliver training for a professional-level audience, including excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
Ability to develop needs assessment tools, analyze data, and present findings.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time administrative – exempt position. The primary work location will be at the Pierce College Fort Steilacoom campus. Frequent travel to Pierce College campuses or other sites may occur. Standard work hours are between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required.
Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $90,008 to $111,362 annually; new hires typically start at $93,758. Your paycheck is just part of the total compensation package. There is an outstanding benefits package which is worth an additional value equivalent to about 30% of your salary. This position works indoors in an office environment.
