Reporting to the Director of Inclusive Practices of the Pierce College District, the Associate Director of Faculty Excellence is a key member of the Employee Learning and Development (ELAD) team, which is part of the leadership team tasked with guiding and maintaining support for teaching and learning. Working closely with the Director of Inclusive Practices, department chairs, and faculty leaders, this position will contribute to fostering a culture of inclusive pedagogy and practices among faculty members through the use of instructional design, technology-enhanced learning, and faculty development expertise.

Essential Functions
The Associate Director of Faculty Excellence will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:
Management and Leadership
Provides leadership and planning for all instructional and curricular development activities designed to support the College’s faculty community.
Actively supports, engages in, and works to advance Pierce College’s goals for equity, diversity and inclusion.
Collaborates with various institutional programs, departments, and stakeholders to provide professional development opportunities focused on student learning and success; ensures learning opportunities are focused on data-driven decision making.
Stays current with emerging literature, research, and approaches on teaching and learning; networks locally and nationally with other Centers for Teaching and Learning and/or Centers for Professional Development at the community college level; actively participates as a presenter or attendee at local and national conferences and/or workshops that involve a range of issues related to professional development; leads campus collaborations in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Facilitation and Coordination
Manages the implementation of internal training programs to include designing, administering, and evaluating for desired outcomes.
Facilitates tenure committee member training focused on equity, teaching excellence, student engagement, and success.
Oversees faculty mentorship program.
Coordinates a variety of training opportunities designed to improve the use of integrated technology in course design and delivery. Serves as a liaison to the eLearning advisory counsel.
Works with Instructional Designers and Faculty in course development activities including inclusive pedagogy tools.
Coordinates support with the instructional design team for eLearning.
Program Supervision and Development
Develops and implements orientation for full-time and part-time faculty.
Develops and implements workshops designed to improve the use of technology-enhanced teaching and learning.
Provides direction on training for compliance purposes.
Develops a Guided Self Placement (GSP) model for racial equity and inclusive pedagogy skills and connects faculty with appropriate learning opportunities to address growth.
Implements college-determined rubric assessment process for online, hybrid, and in-person courses; assists faculty in the assessment of core competencies; transforms all courses in support of the core competencies in collaboration with the Director of Educational Outcomes and Effectiveness.
Assigns and supervises the work of others on a project basis, including faculty contracted for special projects.
Communication
Effectively communicates the professional develop opportunities to Pierce College employees.
Contributes to unified communication channels for professional development resources, including, but not limited to, maintenance of the ELAD web page, the ELAD annual calendar, and systematic electronic and written correspondences.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with two or more years’ experience in a Teaching and Learning Center or in a professional development role.
OR
Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Faculty Development, Instructional Design, or related field.
Experience Required
Teaching experience with various instructional modalities and adult teaching methods.
Experience with curriculum development that values equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Experience designing and delivering training for a professional-level audience.
Required Competencies
Ability to build collaboration by encouraging trust, mutual respect and shared purpose among various participants in an engagement; can exercise mature judgment in all matters related to faculty development activities and training.
Ability to think critically and evaluate information that leads to informed decision making and action.

Knowledge of best practices in program development, planning, and evaluation with the ability to produce new, imaginative, and innovative solutions different from traditional approaches.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently to provide quality service to students, faculty, staff, and the public to satisfy student service expectations.
Outcomes oriented when measuring accomplishments.
Ability to align work unit responsibilities with organizational strategies and adapt as necessary while always adhering to high standards of integrity.
Applies effective written and oral communication techniques to convey clear and timely messages.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time administrative – exempt position. The primary work location will be at the Pierce College Fort Steilacoom campus. Frequent travel to Pierce College campuses or other sites may occur. Standard work hours are between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required.
Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $82,295 to $101,819 annually; new hires typically start at $85,724. Your paycheck is just part of the total compensation package. There is an outstanding benefits package which is worth an additional value equivalent to about 30% of your salary. This position works indoors in an office environment.
