The Director of Residence Life and Student Conduct reports to the Dean of Students and is responsible for all aspects of operation of College-owned housing. This person is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating a residence life program for Penn College students and a coherent and effective student conduct system focused the balance of individual student development and the best interest of the campus community.

Qualifications
Education:
-Master’s Degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or related discipline. (Minimum)
-Earned doctorate degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related discipline. (Desired)
Experience:
-Three (3) years of experience in college/university Residence Life. (Minimum)
-Experience supervising professional staff. (Minimum) -Experience developing and managing budgets. (Minimum)
-Experience in student conduct. (Minimum)
-Five (5) years of experience in college/university Residence Life. (Desired)

-Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, parents, and the public. (Minimum) -Strong problem-resolution skills. (Minimum)
-Excellent organizational, administrative and communication (both written and verbal) skills. (Minimum)

Responsibilities
General
-Coordinate all aspects of housing operations; crisis response; and general problem solving.
-Oversee summer conference housing, residential student conduct, housing assignments, facilities management, budget development, and community development for campus housing.
-Responsible for managing and fulfilling staffing requirements for the department.
Community Development
-Develop programs and processes to enhance students’ residential experience including student development programs that facilitate student satisfaction and persistence. (Essential)
-Implement assessment measures to monitor satisfaction and student outcomes. (Essential)
-Work closely with Student Activities in orientation training, planning, and implementation of student orientation programs and other activities.
-Respond to a wide range of student, parent, and community interests.
-Provide crisis intervention and counseling as needed related to personal and disciplinary problems, academic performance and educational and vocational objectives; refer students to and interface with College departments for resolution of problems or complaints.
-Provide first line contact and problem resolution for parents, students and others with respect to housing issues.
-Provide on-call coverage for Residence Life issues.
Supervision
-Recruit and supervise professional, support, and student staff members.
-Prepare staffing projections and develop staffing plans.
-Develop and implement in-service training programs for professional and student staff, including Resident Assistant Orientation.
-Develop and implement policies and procedures for Residence Life.
Housing Operations
-Develop student contract agreement, rules and regulations, housing handbook, housing brochure, etc. Assist in updating of the Student Handbook and Catalog.
-Liaison with campus departments, including the General Services, Admissions, College Police, Academic Success Center, Counseling, Student Activities, and others.
-Oversee housing units’ maintenance; upgrade, repair and assure safe, clean, well-maintained student housing.
-Ensure safety standards to assure compliance with all regulatory codes.
-Forecast and review Housing budgets including developing and managing a housing occupancy plan, furniture replacement plan, and overall financial plan. Maintain a deficit-free housing budget.
-Represent Residence Life in College functions including, but not limited to, Open Houses, campus tours, placement testing/advisement sessions, and orientation events.
-Participate in College committees appropriate to the position and as requested.
-Prepare or oversee the preparation of special periodic reports on departmental operations, cost or new programs.
-Evaluate the effectiveness of department operations and initiate organizational change and policy/procedure revisions.
-Plan for and authorize purchase of furniture, equipment and supplies. Student Conduct -Oversee the operation of the campus student conduct system including the assigning of incidents, administrative hearings, and student conduct boards.
-Provide organization and training to all staff involved in the student conduct process.
-Develop and prepare reports on the activities and data for the student conduct system including student behavior and conduct trends.
-Conduct appropriate activities to ensure effective, innovative, and high-quality programs.

-Ability to move freely around the housing complex and campus area.
Special Job Features:
-Capable of working beyond the normal College workday as necessary. -Available in emergency situations to coordinate communications with staff and other areas of College operations, and to come on site evenings and weekends as necessary. -Must live within a close proximity to main campus. -Position is subject to a background check. -State Police, Child Line, and FBI fingerprint clearances under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) required before employment can begin.
Pay TransparencyBased on minimum education and experience qualifications the yearly salary range is $79,000 – $89,000.College Statement
