POSITION DESCRIPTION
Title: Level 2 Human Resources Generalist
Reports to: Human Resources Director
Summary: The second level human resource generalist provides assistance with and facilitates the human resource processes at all business locations. This role administers employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between employees and insurance providers. This position resolves benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. The human resource generalist ensures that certain plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience: 3 or more years in human resources or related field preferred.
Type of Experience: Human Resources/Transportation
Special Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). IBM PC computer operation, and organizational skills. Attention to detail is a must. Ability to recall information accurately and in a timely manner. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to keep sensitive company and employee information confidential as job requires.
Physical: Works 8-9 hours/day at desk with only occasional, short breaks. Must have the
ability to solve complex problems and operate under considerable stress, within time
constraints. Must be able to talk on phone frequently with respect to our drivers and office
staff.

This means that abilities have been evident through activities or behaviors that are similar to those required on the job, e.g., ability to plan and organize work. Abilities are different from aptitudes. Aptitudes are only the potential for performing the activity.
Performance Dimensions – Performance dimensions are traits or characteristics used to describe observable workplace behaviors. They provide a framework for managers and employees in which performance can be discussed and evaluated.
