Job Summary:
University Human Resources is seeking a Training Specialist. This is a
full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
Join the Office of University Human Resources Learning &
Development team in supporting professional development for OSU employees! As a full-time Training Specialist, you will collaborate with the
Learning & Development team to design, deliver, and evaluate university-wide training programs and professional development activities in
areas of leadership, soft skills, and manager/supervisor development.
The Office of University Human Resources (UHR) directs a human
resource management program, a benefits and a training and development program for all OSU employees. The Department’s mission is to provide
innovative leadership, direction, and services to achieve effective management of a quality workforce supporting teaching, research, and
public service at Oregon State University.
The primary objective of the UHR Learning and Development (L&D) unit is to provide online
and classroom training for employees in the area of soft skills, leadership, and manager/supervisor development. L&D blends a diverse
knowledge of human and organizational behavior in both industry and higher education to unleash employee talent and maximize organizational
outcomes. L&D programs and initiatives include:
The Training Specialist performs a variety of duties in the L&D unit, including: the design and development of comprehensive
training plans, curriculum, and aids; the assessment of training needs and objectives, and designing and delivering responsive programs and
initiatives; and, the implementation and facilitation of special tailored training events and programs.
