Job Summary:
The University Ombuds Office
is seeking an Associate Ombuds. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The University
Ombuds Office (UOO) provides Ombuds services and education to all members of the University community. The Associate Ombuds (AO) provides
Ombuds services, outreach and education to the University community and visitors, as well as program and operational support to the
University Ombuds Office. The AO also provides and assists with communication and marketing efforts for the Office; coordination of
programming and provides related training and education; and provides research, data gathering and analysis services for the University
Ombuds Office. This position adheres to and promotes the International Ombuds Association’s (IOA) standards of practice and code of ethics;
independence, impartiality, confidentiality, and informality.

Key Responsibilities
80% Ombuds Services: The AO provides
confidential, informal, impartial, and independent conflict management services. The AO takes the lead on processing cases initiated by
undergraduate students, and graduate student and employee related concerns. The AO will assist visitors by listening to concerns, clarifying
issues, proposing options for resolution, and making referrals as appropriate. Assistance may include coaching, mediation, or facilitation.
The AO will bring a thoughtful, measured and empathic approach when working with visitors and members of the OSU community.
10% Education & Outreach: Develops and delivers trainings on conflict management topics; supports and directs the
development and ongoing maintenance of the University Ombuds website; and delivers program presentations to new employees, student groups,
and target audiences.
5% Continuous Improvement Support: Stays informed on current research findings for best
practices in conflict management and training presentations. Assists with the preparation of periodic assessments, educational outreach, and
related presentations/trainings. Is an active partner in assisting the University Ombuds in providing anonymous, aggregated trend data to
the Office of the President on a periodic basis identifying systemic trends to inform efforts to improving climate.
5%
Collaborative Projects and Innovation: Will perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor, including special
projects and assignments on collaborative team projects. Will support on-going Conflict Climate Inventory work as needed.
What You
Will Need
A Bachelors degree AND a minimum of two years of professional experience and demonstrated ability to:

A Bachelors degree in counseling (MSW, MS, Eds, LPC, LMFT or PNHMP degrees would all be
acceptable), communication, higher education, conflict management or a related field AND professional training and
experience in mediation, conflict management or psychology.

security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position
qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have
additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

hours are Monday-Friday; 8AM -5PM; in-person work is expected.
