General Description:
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining the record-keeping functions associated with the College’s Fixed Assets Equipment; coordinating and preparing surplus property; maintaining perpetual supply inventory for stock supplies used by Facilities Management; and maintaining various warehouse spaces in a neat and organized manner. This position will also provide backup and relief coverage, as needed, in the areas of shipping and receiving, motor pool, and mail services. The work performed under the direction and supervision of the Material Control, Assets and Mailing Manager.

Minimum Education/Experience:
High School or GED graduate.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Two (2) years full time work experience in an inventory control environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to operate a forklift safely.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows computer operating systems or similar software.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Positive oral and written communications skills.
Public relations skills to deal with and coordinate efforts between individuals, departments and/or outside contractors.
Ability to read and understand directions, equipment instructions, operating manuals, and College procedures.
Ability to write legibly and type accurately.
Ability to perform complex filing functions.
Able to be contact by telephone 24/7.
Ability, if needed, to work irregular hours.
Positive human relations skills.
Ability to work independently.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the office, warehouse, and various campuses.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, vendors, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position requires the person to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, stairs, ramp, scaffolding, etc. to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to grasp, move, lift, push, pull, work on, or operate equipment.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.
This position requires the person to frequently use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to grasp, lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials or equipment.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the position to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and to observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations..
4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position’s essential functions are performed both indoors and outdoors. When working outdoors this person is subject to extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees) and extreme hot temperatures (temperatures above 100 degrees).
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree
Inventory control experience
Warehousing experience
Proficient in using Microsoft Windows Access and/or Excel software
Shipping and receiving work experience
Computer-aided dispatching experience
Possession of a Class B CDL driver’s license with passenger endorsement
Work Hours:
Generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional evenings and weekends. Additional hours or different hours may be scheduled based on the needs of the Facilities Management Department.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
In accordance with College, policies and procedures prepare necessary documentation and preparation for the disposal of the College’s surplus property.
Assist auction bidders with the auction process.
Perform and document the appropriate transfer and deletion of College equipment records.
Administer appropriate adjustments to maintain accurate equipment records in accordance with College procedures.
Prepare items for storage, maintaining accurate records of what and where these items are stored.
Maintain perpetual inventory stock records; coordinate the replenishment of stock items, as necessary.
Monitor the removal and return of all College-owned property from the campus by employees and other authorized individuals in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
Manually, or with the use of various equipment, store and/or deliver materials to various locations on and occasionally off-campus.
Maintain a variety of paper and computerized filing systems.
Maintain a neat and organized warehouse house space.
Keep office workstation clean and organized.
Coordinate the task of student workers and temporaries and assist in their supervision.
Advise the Material Control Manager on significant matters.
Provide relief and absence coverage for the other Material Control areas, such as shipping and receiving, mail services, and motor pool as required.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Substitute for other Material Control employees.
Assist in the reservation and dispatching of College vehicles from the College’s motor pool.
Manually or with the use of a forklift, assist in unloading materials from delivery trucks.
Examine goods received for accuracy and compliance with purchase order specifications and accept into the Colleague (formerly Datatel) system.
Ensure that all College vehicles are kept clean and in safe operating condition at all times and perform minor mechanical services.
Receive, sort, route, and deliver incoming mail and packages.
Prepare outgoing mail and parcels for mailing and shipping. Assist in other Facilities Management responses such as, snow and ice removal, emergency responses, etc.
Drive College-owned vehicles, as required, for performance of assigned duties.
Perform other related work as assigned.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
