General Description:
The Director of the Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) is responsible for the general management of the college’s two theater venues in support of College events and the theater rental program. This position oversees a revenue-generating department and assists in the development of programs and activities that infuse Oklahoma City Community College with cultural arts events and activities that support community development.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum (5) years’ experience in business administration that includes sales and marketing experience and the supervision of multiple staff.
Minimum (3) years’ experience in coordinating and planning special events.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, staff, faculty, students, vendors, patrons, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently move about the office and OCCC theaters to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office equipment, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:

4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office or theater setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in arts management, business administration, or performing arts-related field.
Experience in managing operations of Performing Arts Center theaters larger than 750 seats that include a working understanding of box office/ticketing operations and performing arts theater systems.
Experience in the booking of touring arts productions to build an annual performing arts subscriber series.
Experience in audience development and patron relations
Administrative experience within the Higher Education or Government sector.
Spanish-language proficiency.
Work Hours:
Generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with regular evening and weekend hours in support of scheduled events.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):
General Duties:
Advise the Executive Director of Auxiliary Business Services on significant matters and support the achievement of institutional strategic plan, goals, and objectives.
Develop and maintain an effective organization through the selection, training, and evaluation and motivation of personnel. Assess performance and provide feedback. Identify and recommend opportunities for training and professional growth.
Develop and oversee all program budgets to meet financial objectives and mission goals.
Oversee the coordination of all aspects of finalized contracts and contract riders for all Bruce Owen Theater (BOT), Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) theater, gallery and lobby/atrium events and activities, as well as events and activities at the Capitol Hill Center.
Review and approve all Bruce Owen Theater (BOT), Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) Theater, VPAC Atrium, and VPAC Gallery use.
Maintain relationships with all internal departments and appropriate external agencies to ensure effective and efficient operation.
Provide technical support and assistance to OCCC Departments utilizing the BOT, VPAC Theater, VPAC Atrium, and/or VPAC Gallery to ensure achievement of each respective department’s event/activity goals.
Promote, negotiate, review, and approve theater venue rentals and rental contracts to meet the department’s annual revenue goals.
Write, review, and implement policies and procedures for events, rentals, activities, and venue use.
Oversee box office operations and staff to ensure proper due diligence, audit compliance, customer service, marketing/PR support, and profitability per annual revenue goals. Negotiate box office contracts and OCCC commissions with ticketed-event venue renters.
Assist the Executive Director of Auxiliary Business Services with the selection of shows, events, exhibits, and activities presented and/or promoted by OCCC.
Assist the Executive Director of Auxiliary Business Services with the negotiations, drafts, and reviews of contracts and technical/hospitality riders for all OCCC shows, events, exhibits, and activities presented and promoted by OCCC.
Oversee the implementation of comprehensive marketing/public relations/advertising plans generated by the Performing Arts Series Coordinator with OCCC’s Marketing/Communications department, to promote events presented by OCCC based on approved budget and available funds, to meet attendance and ticket sales goals for each event.
Write and submit grants and grant final reports in support of Cultural Programs events and activities.
Secure underwriting, sponsorships, donations, and partnerships in support of Cultural Programs events, and activities.
Create plans, budgets, P&L statements, reports, etc. as requested by the Executive Director of Auxiliary Business Services.
Administer season subscriptions and oversee patron relations.
Manage inventory and fixed asset control and modification under College administrative procedures including annual reporting for items of equipment and furniture that are non-expendable with a value of $500 or greater assigned to the Director’s accounting unit.
Develop new programs as evidenced by community needs.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Auxiliary Business Services.
