Comparative Medicine (CM) provides high quality husbandry and in vivo research work and support to enable drug discovery research and development. We are looking for a Research Scientist in CM to provide husbandry and vivarium Operations support, and to help run in vivo research studies and projects to support the diverse and exciting project portfolio at GH. The candidate should be action-oriented, Experienced with rodent husbandry and vivarium operations, skilled in in vivo procedures used to perform in vivo experiments with high technical and ethical standards and provide best in class animal care. The role will require an ability to work independently as well as in close collaboration with other CM colleagues, research scientists, the IACUC and animal welfare team.
Your Key Responsibilities:
• Provide best in class animal care for rodent species.
• Conduct room inspections to assess the animals’ health and cage environment as well as all related paperwork and record keeping.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with scientists to provide optimal support.
• Provide support of in vivo studies in line with project needs and timelines. Including working alone on weekends/Holidays
• Support evaluation and implementation of new techniques and scientific knowledge to ensure state-of-the-art in-vivo work.

Role Requirements
Shifted schedule either Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in animal or life sciences field preferred.
High School diploma/GED and 4+ years relevant industry experience.
direct experience in animal husbandry and technical skills
Commitment to animal well-being and animal welfare in the research setting.
Strong technical skills to include compound administration, blood/tissue collection, clinical observations and necropsy
Interest in attaining coordination skills required to plan and execute complex in vivo studies including scheduling teams and training new associates.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Detail and compliance orientated approach
Collaborative mindset
Flexibility to work non traditional schedules or rotational weekends and holidays.

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $69,300 – $120,000/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
