As the Mechanic – Sr. Support Specialist for the 3rd shift, you will be responsible for the packaging of safe and effective product in an efficient manner. You will ensure the equipment is installed, set up, and maintained properly and provide technical training and guidance to your colleagues. You will focus on the continuous improvement of production operations by performing the actions required to support departmental goals while adhering to safety and quality guidelines and cost control.
Your additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:
•Perform set up, trouble shoot and maintain entire packaging floors on all formats in the timeframe required to meet department expectations and efficiencies.
•Improve operational effectiveness by studying process methods, making recommendations for improvements, and assisting in the execution of such improvements.
•Ensure proper documentation to maintain FDA compliant operation.
•Disassemble and clean equipment as needed for efficient and proper line clearance.
•Document all maintenance, adjustments and repairs in the appropriate logbooks or files.
•Assist in engineering studies, Validation, FAT, qualifications and provide input to equipment related SOPs.
•Maintain compliance with SOPs, good documentation practices (GDP), training requirements, company and safety policies (i.e. Lock Out/Tag Out), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
•Support other lines and roles as necessary to maintain operational efficiency and volume demands while not sacrificing quality or safety.
•Maintain effective communication between shifts.
•Adhere to all applicable procedures, cGMP’s, Company policies, and all other quality or regulatory requirements (OSHA, DEA, FDA, EMEA, ANVISA, HS&E, etc.).
•Ensure all work is performed in a safe, effective manner, and in compliance with the appropriate industry and regulatory (FDA, DEA, OSHA) standards, and departmental, plant, and corporate quality and safety behaviors.
•Assist in controlling of spare parts inventory and order as necessary
•Train mechanical and packaging personnel.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have satisfactory visual acuity. Visual acuity screenings may be used to screen applicants. Satisfactory visual acuity means at least 20/20 vision, corrected or uncorrected.
Note: This position may require the labelling, packaging or movement of hazardous (flammable, corrosive, toxic, etc.) waste within the facility. If so, this employee will be trained under OSHA’s HAZWOPER standard, 29 CFR 1910.120 as an 8-Hour first responder, 24-Hour incident commander, or a 40-Hour incident commander.
In lieu of HAZWOPER training, the employee will receive training on the requirements of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act pursuant to 40 CFR 265.16.
All employees that have received the above-mentioned training upon hire will receive annual refresher training that covers the OSHA HAZWOPER standard and the requirements of RCRA.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $34.95 and $52.45/hour; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.What you’ll bring to the role:
•Associate degree, technical school diploma and/or combination of equivalent experience
•Hands-on experience as a mechanic or service technician with expertise in the following for mechanical equipment: assembly, ongoing maintenance, inspections, diagnosis of root cause for mechanical defects, and repair
•Requires the ability to work the 3rd shift and overtime as needed
Preferred Experience:
•Minimum of five years packaging equipment experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
•Minimum of two years in an FDA regulated industry
•Conceptual understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices 21 CFR Part 211
The level of the position offered (Support Specialist or Sr. Support Specialist) will be based upon the years of relevant experience as noted in the job description.
This opportunity is located at the Sandoz Hicksville, NY site, and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Preference will be given to local candidates not requiring relocation.
