The Executive Medical Director-RLT will lead Medical Unit strategy and tactical execution of US focused Evidence generation across multiple RLT assets.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•US Medical Strategic Leadership – Lead US Medical strategy for Evidence generation for RLT assets. Create and execute US Medical evidence generation plans (IITs, US sponsored trials, HEOR studies) in alignment with Medical strategy team (MSTs). Provide US Medical input into early and late stage clinical programs to support US recruitment for programs and ensuring studies are appropriate for US treatment landscape. Partner and align with US and Global stakeholders (Medical Affairs, Clinical Development and Commercial, as appropriate) on the above.
•US Medical Tactical Execution – Ensure excellence in execution of US evidence generation plans/projects and effective budget management. Serve as the Medical voice within the organization, including interactions with Medical and Commercial senior leadership.
•Health Economics & Outcomes Research/Medical Access – Partner with HEOR, access and medical teams to develop RWE strategy to support reimbursement/access for patients. Support data generation and external engagement to address payer needs.
•Specialized External Collaborations: Drive External strategy for Medical data generation, including partnerships/collaborations with Key Centers of Excellence, HCPs, Professional Societies, and other external stakeholders.
•Team Leadership/Talent Development/Culture – Create deep talent pipeline by identifying, attracting and developing a best in class Medical Affairs team. Ensure effective coaching and development to team members to build technical and leadership skills in line with Novartis Leadership aspiration. Cultivate an inclusive, high performance environment that values and leverages diversity of thinking, style and experiences.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $284,000.00 and $426,000.00 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/22 through 12/31/22, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
#RLTWhat you’ll bring to the role (Requirements):
•Doctorate level degree (MD, PharmD, DO, or PhD in Health Sciences or related field) required.
•Medical Degree (MD) or equivalent preferred
•10 years’ experience in progressively senior roles within clinical development and/or medical affairs roles in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry or academic institution/clinical practice.
•3 years’ prior People management/team leadership experience is preferred.
•Candidate must be willing/able to travel to US Headquarters (East Hanover, NJ) and expect 30% travel for meetings, congresses and HQ.
•Clinical research experience – including concept and protocol development – conducted in a pharmaceutical or equivalent environment is required.
•Strong track record of positive, productive interactions with Medical Experts and Investigators required.
•Solid understanding of clinical trial operations and experience driving patient recruitment solutions, is strongly preferred.
•Oncology experienced required. Prostate cancer experience preferred.
•Established relationships with Medical Experts and Professional Societies in Oncology & Prostate Cancer preferred.
