The Associate Director – Autoinflammatory Disease (AD-AID) is an organically collaborative leader whose holistic approach to account management coincides with enthusiastic acceptance of the highest levels of personal accountability. This individual operates initially as Novartis’ only proactive Point of Contact (PoC) in assigned accounts and utilizes the ability to compliantly lead without authority within Novartis to assemble the team necessary to provide the best possible customer experience based on each customer’s individual needs. As the Team Lead, the AD-AID demystifies each step of the access process, deploys internal partners where needed to successfully fulfill commitments, and thereby encourages and ensures repeat business and partnering by being accountable on behalf of the entire team for gold standard customer experience. Rare disease brand teams typically being smaller have fewer internal partners; thus, the AD-AID is Novartis’ primary subject matter expert relative to:
• therapeutic area (TA)
• the brand, access/support tools, and ensuring direct customer navigation to all available resources including key internal partners
• treatment onboarding, maintenance, and reinitiating processes.
A natural consultative seller, the AD-AID is required to effectively deliver clinical information related to indicated rare diseases, thereby helping HCPs to identify appropriate patients. In ever-changing market dynamics, the AD-AID must be an initiative-taking leader with the ability to develop and execute evolving business plans that mirror and marry the missions and visions of the Novartis rare disease franchise to those of their assigned accounts. The successful AD-AID must employ subject matter expert-level clinical acumen and TED Talk caliber storytelling skills to elicit urgent, empathetic, actionable customer response. AD-AIDs must intuitively collaborate, delegate, and when required hand-off and step aside to move the customer’s journey forward. AD-AIDs must be accountable, have integrity, and be agile, continuous learners capable of monitoring, comprehending, and responding to healthcare market and managed care landscape changes. As business development leaders, AD-AIDs strive to uncover opportunities to partner with assigned accounts for the betterment of patient outcomes. AD-AIDs must vigilantly, proactively, and compliantly enlist the assistance/support of internal partners (Market Access, Field Reimbursement, Medical, Sales/Marketing Leadership, etc.) as early as possible when needed. AD-AIDs must have keen listening skills and the ability to detect and respond appropriately to customers’ verbal and non-verbal cues.
