Target hiring range for this position will be between $49,850-$70,419 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
The Research Project Coordinator of the Cancer Rehabilitation Studies (CARES) Laboratory will manage daily operations, analyze & review study results, supervise study staff, ensure data quality control & compliance, protocols & procedures, management of budgets & coordinate writing, submission & grants administration. The coordinator may co-author scientific papers for presentation/publication.
Please Note: The research project coordinator may be asked to work on the weekends or evenings to interview study participants or to conduct focus groups to accommodate the work and cancer treatment schedules of research participants. The research project coordinator may be asked to conduct part of the work activities in patient clinics and patient homes in addition to the CARES lab workspace. Some travel may be involved to conduct some research project activities such as driving to research subjects homes or attending a research or community meeting. Flexibility of working remotely will be considered.
Specific Responsibilities:
* Leads execution & control of biomedical & social science research studies.
* Coordinates processing & analysis of data, conduct of experimental tests & procedures; proficient with REDCap, SPSS or SAS for cross-sectional and longitudinal studies
* Develops new &/or revised research methodologies.
* Ensures completion of study activities per protocols including recruitment.
* Ascertains pretreatment & eligibility requirements, recruits human subjects, obtains informed consent, registers participant with appropriate sponsor.
* Interviews & obtains medical & social histories, collects data from medical records, administers, schedules &/or scores tests.
* Oversees & manages collection, maintenance, analysis & evaluation of data that will be used in grant submissions, presentations & publications; ensures that information is entered correctly into databases.
* Assists PI in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, formatting, editing, & preparing tables, charts, graphs, progress & final reports, etc.
* Coordinates between sponsoring agencies, collaborating organizations &/or other research &/or educational institutions.
* Ensures that all study documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols are completed in a timely manner.
* Manages lab/study budget & inventory including purchasing of supplies & services ensuring that they are necessary, reasonable & project related; orders & maintains inventory of study supplies
* Distributes intra-departmental charges; negotiates with vendors, obtain quotes & arrange for demos of large equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or master’s degree in epidemiology/biostatistics or other degree related to cancer control and prevention
* 1 – 2 years of research study relevant experience with supervisory/project management experience required.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
* Biostatistical analytical abilities to enter, monitor, clean and conduct basic analyses for cross-sectional and longitudinal data
* Expert fluency (reading, writing, conversation) in English
* Proficiency with REDCap, statistical software (SPSS or SAS), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Masters degree in public health specializing in epidemiology/biostatistics
* 1-2 years of research study relevant experience with human subjects research involving cancer survivors and their supportive others
* Research study experience involving some supervision and training of study staff on protocols, human subjects eligibility screening, recruitment, consenting and retention
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
* Expert fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing, conversation)
* Experience with recruiting and interviewing cancer survivors
* Knowledge and skill with navigating research study resources (e.g. IRB, patient registries, electronic health records, clinic schedules, etc)
