Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems have an exciting career opportunity for a (GCN) GMD Communications Network Technician 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in Fort Greely, Alaska

Position Overview:

Supports the operation of the GMD Communications Network (GCN) through effective monitoring and management of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) devices.

Responsibilities include:

• Using SolarWinds and other network management tools to monitor hardware devices, virtual machines, and network connections.
• Configuring router and switch interfaces in accordance with written documentation
• Detecting and reporting faults
• Assisting Field Engineers with troubleshooting activities
• Participating in asset and system transitions
• Maintaining archives of system logs
• Accurately recording events in shift logs and trouble tickets
• Strictly adhering to all applicable processes, approved procedures, and management directives
• Effectively responding to work schedule changes as needed to support mission requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience
• Holds an IAT Level II (CompTIA Security+) certification or higher IAW DoD 8570 requirements.
• Possesses (at a minimum) a DoD Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic understanding of networking fundamentals and Cisco IOS commands
• Basic understanding of Linux/UNIX commands
• Experience using Microsoft Windows, SolarWinds Orion Platform, VMWare ESXi and/or Active Directory
• Knowledge of Information Security best practices such as centralized authentication and multi-factor authentication
• STEM Degree

Salary Range: $51,800 USD – $86,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
