Job Summary
The Coordinator, Engineering Technology provides an additional resource to School of Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing to explore and establish opportunities for learners (students and incumbent workers) that will fulfill College and regional business needs while creating long-term partnerships with other educational entities. The Coordinator will engage in dynamic, creative, proactive interaction with external and internal partners, helping identify all of the opportunities available in the field of engineering technology. Reporting to the Dean, ScEAM, this is an exciting and unique role for creative and technically minded individuals who want to make a lasting difference in how engineering technology education is offered in our community.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Complete the work identified in the “Invigorating NTC’s Engineering Technologies Career Pathways” grant, including the following:
Create an online directory showcasing NTC’s engineering technology pathways along with options for potential and current students.
Develop and implement a web-accessible ‘Credit for Prior Learning’ assessment process for potential students.
Manage and lead engineering technology articulation agreements with other educational institutions, including discussion, negotiation, and development of new pathways with four year colleges and universities.
Work with NTC engineering technology students to organize outreach events offering near-peer mentoring.
Direct and develop Dual Credit, High School Academy, Career Exploration, and K-12 Events for the School of Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing.
Develop partnerships related to engineering technology with community and professional organizations.
Support existing and new Advisory Committees related to engineering technology.
Professionally represent NTC in support of and in discussions with industry partners, WTCS colleges, universities, professional organizations, and others and be capable of making independent decisions and strategic plans to achieve NTC’s goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications Required
In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field (such as Engineering, Education, Technical Project Management, etc.)
Experience: 2 to 3 years relevant experience
Mid to High level administrative experience in an industry or educational setting
Experience effectively managing teams and individuals without direct authority
Experience with multi-level organizational and external communication, including negotiating, presenting, and meeting facilitation
Experience with dynamic problem solving and critical thinking application in diverse projects
Demonstrated self-management and ability to self-prioritize multiple goals
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Language Skills:
Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret complex documents; present topics to internal and external individuals of all levels.
Math Skills:
Ability to perform and work complex calculations, make comparisons, interpret and provide logical explanations to others.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions to critically create resolutions; interpret instructions in mathematical or diagram form with abstract and concrete variables.
Technical Skills:
Ability to perform complex operations in a variety of job-specific systems, understand functionality to apply advanced functions, manage/customize and create calculations with data.
Customer Service Skills:
Ability to understand complex concerns and formulate solutions; communicate professionally with various audiences in different situations.
