Essential Job Duties:
The Veterans Administration School-Certifying-Official (SCO) position is responsible for the life-cycle management and processing of NC State student GI Bill Education Benefits from student’s Admission through Graduation (for both Montgomery and Post-9/11 GI Bill). Position requirements include managing the processes, technology, and business processes to effectively and accurately address GI Bill benefits for NC State veterans and eligible students. This includes:
The specialized knowledge of GI Bill benefits allows this position to provide effective recruitment of veterans and veteran dependents who will be utilizing veteran benefits. Recruitment activities include the development of materials, recruitment visits to military bases, military educational fairs, and community colleges in proximity to military populations. Also, the development of community college partnerships and programs to support the veteran transfer student pipeline by providing information on efficient use of benefits and the efficient transfer pathways.
The position also supports the success, retention, and graduation of veteran students by partnering with the Military and Veteran Services office in the delivery of support and programs to veterans, active duty, and military affiliated students.
The Assistant Registrar will manage the veteran benefit certification team and establish rules, acceptable levels of quality and quantity of work, provide reviews of work and measure performance of the team. This position will provide assistance to develop staff professionally.
Other Work/Responsibilities:
Other duties as assigned including some weekend events like university commencement or veteran student support activities like the military appreciation football game.
Minimum Experience/Education:
Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
