About the Department |
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management (PRTM) is a multi-disciplinary department that addresses critical research questions related to human dimensions of natural and built environments, livable communities, youth development and physical activity, and rural tourism development. The mission of PRTM is to advance and disseminate scholarship concerning management and use of natural and cultural resources for recreation, tourism, and sport through research, teaching, and public engagement. PRTM faculty enjoys a vibrant scholarly environment supportive of innovative teaching and high-impact social science research. |
Essential Job Duties |
Twelve-month professional track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management. Incumbent will teach 5 to 6 courses per year, one of which will be the development and coordination of the department’s capstone. In addition, the incumbent will serve as an academic advisor, coordinate professional development activities for the undergraduate program, and assist the Director of Undergraduate Programs with student recruiting, assessments, and exit interviews. Candidates displaying proficiency in teaching foundation courses in sports management, the sociology of sport, the sociology of leisure, leisure philosophy, leisure theory, and the history of parks is preferred. |

Assist the director of undergraduate programs in recruiting, assessment, and exit interviews with graduating seniors. |
Minimum Education and Experience |
Requires master’s degree for Lecturer. Doctoral degree for Assistant Teaching Professor. Terminal degree should be in sports management, parks and recreation management, tourism management, leisure studies, or related field. |
