The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks
a Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor and Academic Director for the Schack Institute of Real Estate, effective Fall 2024. (The rank
of the position will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.)
The Schack Institute of Real Estate is
actively seeking candidates who are distinguished academics and/or professionals with exemplary experience in real estate and related
fields, and have the ability to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: finance and investment, affordable housing, capital
markets, real estate data analytics, portfolio management, development process, asset management, sustainability, green building, urban
economics, city planning, property technology, and global real estate markets. Ideal candidates will have experience working with a diverse
base of professionals and/or teaching a diverse population of students.
The candidate should be prepared to teach at both the
undergraduate and graduate level. The Schack Institute provides a dynamic NYU undergraduate real estate education for students who want to
create wealth and have a positive impact on the global built environment of the future. The undergraduate degree offers a rigorous and
stimulating educational experience in the fundamentals of real estate finance, asset and portfolio management, sustainable design,
environmental social governance, accounting and taxation as well as urban economics. The undergraduate real estate program has been rated as
one of the top in the United States and is unique in its focus on professional practices and its ability to empower students to pursue their
dreams. The graduate program is one of the largest in the U.S. It hosts an array of networking events including world-class conferences,
gatherings with alumni, field trips to iconic properties, and meetings with leading real estate executives in the heart of New York
City.
Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Schack Institute of Real Estate, the successful candidate will also serve as the
Academic Director to implement the vision for expanding Schack’s real estate programs and initiatives, and to increase Schack’s
profile and visibility locally, nationally and internationally. The Academic Director of the Schack Institute of Real Estate has direct
supervision of approximately 80 adjunct faculty, and 4 program staff.
Successful candidates should be comfortable teaching graduate,
undergraduate, corporate & executive education programs; developing courses; advising students; collaborating with other faculty and
industry partners; and engaging with the broader NYUSPS academic community, as appropriate. This full-time position is a nine-month
appointment with a two-year renewable faculty contract; the academic director role is a 12-month administrative appointment that runs
concurrent with the faculty appointment.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this
position is $85,000 – $135,000 as well as an administrative stipend of $10,000 – $60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but
not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer
equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Qualifications:
The ideal
candidate will (i) hold an advanced degree (terminal in their field or discipline), preferably in applied economics, urban economics,
finance, city planning, urban studies, real estate, hospitality, real estate focused technology, or a related field; (ii) have a significant
industry or academic track record; (iii) have at least three years of academic experience or effectiveness in higher education. Required:
Demonstrated management experience with a minimum of three direct reports. Preferred: Three years of administrative experience in a
university academic department (i.e. coordinator, chair). Candidates should provide evidence of initiative in curricular development,
demonstrate an ability or potential ability to engage in meaningful service or administrative work, and supply evidence of promise in
scholarly work.
