Job Description
Group Supervisor/Lead Teacher
Position Reports to: Assistant Director/Executive Director
Qualifications: Associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and experience working with children.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop a careful and creative program using the Creative Curriculum as a guide.
2. Screen children within 45 days using ASQ-3 tool.
3. Assess children using the Teaching Strategies Gold as an assessment tool on an ongoing basis.
4. Observe each child and provide activities to help meet the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child.
5. Create goals to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
6. Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media – [Not videos] etc.) to teach children.
7. Provide individualized plans for children, depending on their developmental needs.
8. Prepare weekly lesson plans and give a copy to the Assistant Director.
9. Encourage teaching assistants to contribute to classroom planning.
10. Maintain daily open communication, verbal and written, with parents.
11. Write accident/injury/behavior reports.
12. Report any suspect abuse to Childline and supervisor. We are mandated reporters.
13. Meet all applicable licensing regulations.
14. Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy.
15. Inspect and make sure damaged or lost materials are replaced by reporting to the office in writing.
16. Maintain confidentiality.
17. Maintain child staff ratios and supervise children at all times.
18. Work as a team and maintain a respectful work environment.
19. Attend trainings and staff meetings.
20. Follow all CACFP regulations
21. Supervise and train assistant teachers and aides in your classroom.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 – $16.00 per hour
