The Extension Administrative Assistant is the office manager for the County Extension Center. This position provides administrative support for Extension staff and programs.
Responsibilities include administrative support for the County Extension Director and other staff in program areas, including Agriculture, Horticulture, 4-H, and Family and Consumer Science.
The position interacts with other county departments (Human Resources, Finance, Budget, etc.) to ensure effective relationships with county government.
The County Administrative Assistant will work with the County Extension Director to develop and effectively manage the county and NCSU Extension budget and ongoing financial procedures and maintain grant fund budgets.
Responsible for submitting all volunteer background checks and maintaining appropriate records.
The successful candidate will provide customer service to call-in and walk-in clientele.
Marketing Extension programs and success through creating reports, maintaining and updating the website, social media, and all other communication outlets. Creation of educational materials and newsletters. Assist Agents in creating program announcements and other event promotion materials.
Extension Staff and does related work as required to support educational programs in various areas.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Cooperative Extension agents deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens through educational programs, publications, and events.
Other Work/Responsibilities:

An extensive knowledge of computer applications is required, including Word and Excel, and one must be willing to learn new relevant software programs as they become essential.Must be highly motivated and have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.The County Administrative Assistant should possess strong written and oral communication skills.The County Administrative Assistant must be understanding of and able to maintain confidentiality, especially as it relates to personnel issues.

Minimum Experience/Education:
Graduation from high school and two years of related experience; or graduation from a two-year secretarial science or business administration program and one year related experience

– Must have good organizational skills
– Must possess efficient keyboarding and computer skills
