SENIOR ACCOUNT CLERK (PAYROLL)
SALARY $3,613.59 – $4,635.87
JOB INFORMATION This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) full-time position working 8 hours per day,
12 months per year.
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Fiscal Services: prepares regular and variable payrolls for certificated and classified employees; checks and keeps a variety of payroll deductions and employee insurance deductions; maintains sick leave and vacation records; issues warrants; prepares quarterly and yearly tax reports for the Federal and State government; performs bank reconciliations and other accounting functions; performs other duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Positions in this classification are responsible for complex accounting functions, such as payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledgers, cafeteria accounting, or Associated Student Body accounts
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School graduation or equivalent and three years of responsible financial recordkeeping experience in one of the following areas is required: payroll, accounts payable or accounts receivable.
EXPERIENCE: Experience in an educational setting is highly desirable.
REQUIRED LICENSE/ CERTIFICATES: Self-Certification of computer skills, including Microsoft excel and word.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Performs complex accounting work in an organizational unit; maintains and monitors ledgers of appropriations, encumbrances, expenditures and unencumbered balances for various funds and accounts; prepares various financial reports; prepares regular and variable payrolls for classified and certificated employees; checks and keeps a variety of payroll deductions and employee insurance deductions; calculates and maintains sick leave and vacation records; calculates and processes employee benefit information and workers compensation claim information; maintains and balances insurance reports; answers questions and gives out information on accounting matters; audits invoices; receives and checks invoices and verifies against purchase orders, receiving documents, and issues warrants; prepares financial and statistical reports and other statements; maintains cafeteria accounts; maintains student body financial records; writes ASB checks; receives moneys; counts and prepares cash for deposit; makes bank deposits, as needed; maintains sales and use tax records and reports; maintains perpetual inventory records; maintains revolving cash fund account; prepares quarterly and yearly tax reports for the Federal and State governments; prepares and maintains State and Federal claims for reimbursement; and establishes and maintains a wide variety of files and records.
OTHER TYPICAL DUTIES May order and process supplies and equipment; collects developer fees.
ABILITY TO Learn and apply laws, rules, regulations and policies affecting school districts, including but not limited to accounting; financial and fiscal recordkeeping; perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy; operate a variety of office equipment, including computers and 10 key; understand and follow written and oral instructions; and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
KNOWLEDGE OF Office practices and procedures; fiscal practices and procedures; financial recordkeeping terminology and procedures; the set-up and maintenance of filing systems.
