Position Overview

Miss Hall’s is seeking a per diem substitute teacher to teach two courses of Ceramics I/II starting in January 2023 and on an as-needed basis. Responsibilities will include:

• Teaching classes that meet Tuesdays and Fridays between 8:30 and 3:30 p.m.
• Supporting 28 students with their on-going projects in hand-building and wheel throwing
• Supporting each student as they select a piece and write a statement to be included in the Winter Art Show in February 2023
• Holding students accountable for caring for the materials, projects, and clean-up
• Conducting bisque and glaze firings as needed
• Communicating with Facilities team about any maintenance needed in the Ceramics Studio
• Communicating with Department Chair about any needs regarding classroom management and individual student needs

Qualifications

• This person or persons will have the technical skills necessary for the tasks and the ability and willingness to engage high school students in the work.
• Experience teaching at the high school or college level
• Knowledge base and comfort with teaching all levels of Ceramics
• Demonstrated interest in, commitment to, and ability to work with students of varied academic levels and interests
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and to serving a diverse, global community
• Commitment to the Miss Hall’s School Mission and Core Values

Salary benchmarked with NAIS medians and commensurate with experience

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 – $49.99 per hour
