Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Psychology in the College of Education and Human Services welcomes applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate position beginning August 2024. We seek candidates who share our commitment to advancing social justice issues and instilling within future generations of school psychologists a deep understanding of the impact of systemic and structural racism on the social-emotional wellbeing and academic success of minoritized youth. We seek candidates with expertise in bilingual school psychology (e.g., assessment, intervention, etc.) or working with culturally and linguistically diverse students. We strongly encourage applications from members of underrepresented communities and applicants who demonstrate a sincere desire to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion within the schools.
The candidate hired will have the opportunity to contribute to both our undergraduate program as well as our growing specialist level (Ed.S.) program in School Psychology through curriculum development, community partnerships, leadership opportunities, and the supervision and training of future school psychologists. The Millersville University Educational Specialist Graduate Program in School Psychology is approved by the National Association of School Psychology (NASP). We prepare our students for comprehensive and integrated service delivery in accordance with the NASP Professional Standards. Millersville University school psychology alumni are eligible for school psychology certification by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and to become Nationally Certified School Psychologists (NCSP) via NASP. Upon graduation, 100% of our alumni are hired as school psychologists in local Pennsylvania school districts or Intermediate Units, and are employed in several other states (i.e., DE, MD, FL, IL, etc.).

Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications as well as aligned with the details contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Millersville University Promotion Statement.
Minimum qualifications required to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate include having an earned doctorate and a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience (or its equivalent) and scholarship commensurate with this rank.

EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND PERFORMANCE OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Teaching responsibilities include graduate courses in school psychology such as assessment, consultation, applied behavior analysis, classroom and school-wide behavioral interventions, practicum or internship and undergraduate courses in applied behavior analysis, child development and related areas in psychology.Faculty are expected to hold regular office hours as well as be able to teach in a variety of delivery modalities.

CONTINUING SCHOLARLY GROWTH AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:Sustain growth in scholarly and/or creative activities within one’s field of study. Millersville has a broad definition of scholarship including activities such as peer-reviewed publications and presentations, research projects, the development of experimental programs, offices held in professional organizations, papers delivered at national and regional meetings of professional societies, regional and national awards, grant acquisitions, editorships, program-related projects, consultantships, additional graduate work, contribution to the scholarly growth of peers, innovations in teaching, initiatives that enhance student success, obtaining/maintaining professional licensure, and teaching related professional development.

SERVICE AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY AND/OR COMMUNITY:Provide service on an ongoing basis by contributing professionally to department and university governance, the professional community and/or the community at large, in a participatory, developmental, or advisory capacity. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervise interns, practicum students and graduate assistants as well as thesis and dissertations as needed as well as other reasonable duties assigned within the faculty member’s field of competence. Participate in activities that support program goals that enhance student learning and serve the needs of the department. Additionally, faculty are expected to actively engage in curricular development and evaluation, and co-curricular, assessment, and accreditation activities.
