The overall responsibilities of this position include maintaining absence plan policies per legislative requirements and organization goals, ensuring the correct execution of absence plans in Workday, providing feedback and trend analysis on absence plan usage and trends, and analyzing and remediating identified policy and configuration problems.
Major Activities and % of Time

Manage all Company absence plans including, but not limited to, Sick, Vacation, Personal and Floating Holidays. This position does not have ownership of the Leave of Absence program.
Monitor state/province legislation related to absence plans
Coordinate with leadership on proposed plan changes
Define requirements for plan configuration changes in Workday
Test Workday configuration for plan updates and enhancements

Partner with multiple business units to provide project leadership, absence plan subject matter expertise, and impact assessments as they relate to Michaels Stores Inc. operations.
Craft and coordinate communication for all absence plan changes and annual events
Generate reports and presentations to provide absence plan analysis, usage, cost, etc. periodically and as requested

Assist with third level support for all incoming absence plan requests/cases escalated by tier 2 support
Assume responsibility for efficient end-to-end case management within set timeframe depending on priority and complexity
Monitor absence cases for trends indicating a configuration or plan policy problem
Demonstrate proactive personal commitment to the adoption of new processes and working practices.
Participate as team member on Company initiatives wherever applicable, driving where necessary their adoption within HR systems area.

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Human Resources, or other related field or equivalent experience
Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills
2#43; years of Workday Absence Management experience is required for research, analysis, and requirement documentation
Will not accept other HRIS systems such as Lawson, Oracle, PeopleSoft or SAP
Above average proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated skill in assessing report needs, generating reports, including collecting and analyzing data, evaluating absence plan information and drawing logical conclusions.
Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires
4#43; years of absence plans management experience is required.
2#43; years of experience with retail-industry absence plan practices (i.e. sick, vacation, personal holiday).
Experience in a multi-state/province, US and Canada environment is required.
Other
Demonstrated ability to communicate with all audiences within the organization, identifying and articulating issues/resolutions. Experience writing absence plan documents and policies.
Must come from a fast paced, high volume environment with ability to handle a busy workload, flexibility with working hours based upon projects and established deadlines
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently charter unknown situations
Pay range for this position is $69,000 – $120,000 per year

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Human Resources, or other related field or equivalent experience
Preferred Special Certifications or Technical Skills
Experience of Workday Absence Management configuration is a benefit
Experience/ Knowledge of Workday reporting is strongly preferred. Assistance will be available for complex requirements
Preferred Type of Experience the Job Requires
Experience with Asia absence plans is a bonus.
Experience with ServiceNow would be helpful.
