Job Summary:
Senior Research Scholar to provide a leadership role as a principal investigator or senior researcher on a variety of Scripps Gerontology Center grants and contracts. In addition to work conducted on existing projects, the individual will also be expected to support and/or lead searches for and responses to new grant opportunities. Applicants should desire to work in a highly collaborative environment where taking initiative, working well in teams of internal and external colleagues, and exhibiting adaptability in the face of shifting priorities are valued. This position is funded by external grants on a year-by-year basis, with annual renewal contingent on continued funding and performance. This position is approved for remote work on a full-time basis, following a successful period of onboarding. The Senior Research Scholar is a 50% position that is fully remote and the candidate must reside within the tri state area of Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky and a commutable distance to campus. Remote work is a working arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason.
Duties/Physical Demands:
The Senior Research Scholar will:
Serve as data management and analysis lead on funded projects.
Participate in or lead project conceptualization and research design.
Work with co-investigators to initiate and submit proposals for external funding.
Provide direction for funded research including project management, team leadership, and supervision of research assistants, associates, or graduate and undergraduate students.
Senior Research Scholars are expected to serve as principal investigators on external grants or contracts.
Co-author reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication.
Maintain active agenda for externally funded research that aligns with organizational goals and priorities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Doctorate or terminal degree in gerontology or closely related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience at the Research Scholar level; record of PI or co-PI level of leadership in development, submission, and receipt of grants and/or contracts; experience with project management, budgeting, and supervising project staff; track record of authorship of comprehensive research report and/or scholarly publications.
Desired Qualifications:
Consideration may be given to candidates with both qualitative and quantitative research methods experience and excellent written and oral communication skills.
