Overview
The MGH Institute of Health Professions invites nominations and applications for the Associate Chairperson of the Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. The ideal applicant will work as a faculty member and assume all such responsibilities in being an active and contributing member to the department. They will need to be flexible with schedule, able to prioritize, able to self-monitor, able to work collaboratively with others (including within interprofessional teams), and able to track progress of multiple projects.
Responsibilities primarily focus on curriculum and faculty development for the Physician Assistant Studies Program. The Associate Chair (AC) will be responsible for oversight and evaluation of the curriculum across the entire program. The AC will oversee faculty and provide mentoring in their work as course coordinators and educators, serve as chair of the department’s Curriculum Committee and direct the committee’s work in curriculum evaluation, and support the work of the Chair in ongoing program administration and evaluation. This position also includes teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities, commensurate with level of appointment.
Time spent is the activity areas below are negotiated with individual faculty, but are generally considered to be:
Administration: 70%
Teaching 10%
Service 10%
Scholarship 10%
Note: Specific responsibilities will be subject to change based on the needs of the Physician Assistant Program. Job descriptions and percentage of FTE will be reviewed and negotiated annually.
