Monitors and participates in the daily operational, personnel and financial activities of selected areas within the Patient Care Services Department including, but not limited to: the ordering, tracking and charging of equipment and supplies and the patient transporter staff. Maintains effective communication and working relationships with internal and external customers. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations of Georgetown University Hospital’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
EducationEstablishes and maintains relationships with external vendors of specialty equipment and supplies. Orders, monitors the use of, charges for, and returns specialty equipment. Fit tests patient’s special orders (boots, collars, etc.) and trains departmental staff to ensure that special orders fit correctly. Establishes and maintains relationships with hospital departments to monitor equipment and supply inventories, usage and cost. Tracks and supplies data and statistics as required by the Administrative Coordinator, PCS. Performs human resource management functions for designated areas of responsibility to include, but not limited to: orienting, training, retraining, scheduling, coaching, and counseling of patient transporters and other personnel as assigned. Monitors daily activity of assigned areas, adjusts assignments as necessary. May be required to fill in as needed when staffing needs dictate. Maintains and monitors appropriate polices, procedures and internal controls to ensure the delivery of superior customer service in a productive and cost-effective manner. Demonstrates initiative in job performance by analyzing and suggesting methods/procedures to improve quality, service, productivity, safety and efficiency. Accepts and supports change. Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations and Commitment to Caring standards and holds department staff accountable for conformity with those standards. Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position. Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
- Comparable work experience such as equipment purchasing, tracking and charging/billing, dispatcher, patient transporter, or other hospital experience. required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills.
- Must have good computer skills that include word processing, data base management and billing.
- Must have the ability to manage operational budgets.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to change.
- Must be able to set priorities and work in a stressful environment.
