EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responsible for exercising discretion and independent judgment to complete assigned duties which include but are not limited to the following: Provide first-level remote and on-site support including maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, repairing and installation of all IT supported hardware, software, and Windows operating systems, applications and peripheral devices;Support and troubleshoot wired, wireless, and VPN connectivity for desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile devices;Assist with the operation of LOTT’s voice and data systems, including telephone system, voicemail, local and long distance and wireless communications; Identify issues and develop appropriate resolutions to ensure user needs are met; Install computers, system components, or peripheral hardware or software and provide documentation and training to users;Assist with system administration, including user account set up and maintenance, application configuration and maintenance and ongoing maintenance of hardware and software;Assist with system upgrades, relocations and other projects as needed;Assists in capturing routine file backups and file restoration for all shared information processing systems per established policies and procedures;Assist with inventory management of hardware and software;Consult with staff to identify needs and coordinate system activities;Record all support interactions in IT Service Desk system and identify when problems need to be redirected or escalated for resolution; Educate and inform end-users regarding compliance with LOTT Computing Resources Use Policy;Participates in the implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plan, and IT strategic business plan, to ensure that appropriate IT measures are addressed;Assist in the management of contracts with vendors and consultants as appropriate; and Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.Working Conditions: The Network Administrator works primarily on site in a busy office setting with continuous interruptions, but will be required to work in all areas of LOTT Facilities, including travel to remote worksites in order to perform work and complete assignments. Due to the size and configuration of LOTT facilities, the ability to climb stairs and sufficient agility to safely navigate uneven terrain and slippery surfaces both indoors and outdoors is required. There are hazardous work areas such as pits, underground vaults and other confined spaces. Work in close proximity to heavy industrial equipment may be required. The Network Administrator may be exposed to a variety of health and safety conditions including toxic, corrosive and combustible fumes and chemicals, high voltage equipment, and raw sewage; may be required to work irregular hours, holidays and weekends in order to respond to emergency situations and may be required to provide emergency response 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of: Microsoft Office 365SharePoint 365Current methods and tools for managing and diagnosing personal computers in a network environment;Office and business computers, operating systems, and applications;Computer hardware and software repair, installation, maintenance, upgrades, and documentation; Capabilities and advancements of computers, peripheral equipment, information system technology, and application software;Modern office procedures, methods, troubleshooting and problem solving protocols;Understanding of network systems administration principles;Understanding and application of network security best practices, trends and procedures and data recovery practices;Understanding and application of modern scripting languages;Understanding and application of modern network protocols.LOTT organizational policies, objectives, and operations. Skill in: Time management; working under strict deadlines with competing priorities; Planning and organizing a high volume workload;Troubleshooting and problem solving;Researching and analyzing possible solutions to problems;Repairing and performing preventative maintenance on systems;Using computer networks, standard computer programs such as database, word processing, and spreadsheets, and the internet;Strong oral and written communications skills; andDelivering responsive and high quality customer service and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to: Proficiently perform installations, maintenance, and problem diagnosis and repair of computer hardware and software installations;Install, operate, and troubleshoot a wide variety of software used by LOTT;Maintain a positive attitude and demeanor in stressful situations;Quickly learn new technologies, systems, and software;Maintain and troubleshoot network and workstation operating systems;Write and communicate clearly and concisely; Create and present effective training and explain highly technical work to a variety of audiences, in multiple formats;Lift 50 pounds;Prioritize workload and meet competing deadlines;Independently manage workload and execute tasks in a timely manner; andWork effectively both independently and as a member of a service-oriented team.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Experience & Education: Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and two years’ experience with the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of computer systems, OR any combination of experience, education, and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Certifications, such as Microsoft (MCP, MCSA, MCSE), CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+), or other applicable certifications desired. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint preferred. Additional Requirements: A valid Driver’s License is required.
