The Department of Journalism & Media Studies (JAMS) invites applications to fill a full-time, tenure-track position beginning Fall
2022. Rank is at the assistant or associate professor level.
Qualified applicants will demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching
in a baccalaureate liberal arts setting; a serious interest in and potential for quality scholarship; enthusiasm for service in the
university and surrounding community; and have the ability to teach a range of undergraduate courses in Journalism & Media Studies,
including Principles of Public Relations, Principles of Advertising, Public Relations Writing, one or more core courses in the major (Living
in a Media World, our introductory course; Intro to Media Writing; Media Theory and Criticism), and two or more upper-division media-studies
courses (Social Media Theory and Practice, Sports Information, Media Ethics, Media Research Methods, Media and Popular Culture). Most of
these courses are offered on a once-a-year or once-every-other-year rotation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop
new courses, as well.
A Ph.D. in mass communication or a related field of study should be completed by the time of appointment.
Applicant must have a minimum five years of professional experience in public relations and/or advertising with knowledge of current trends
and skill sets.
