GENERAL DUTIES
I.T. Associates perform moderately complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Associates work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving complex technology problems and serving as a technical resource. They have considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may have supervisory responsibilities.
I.T. Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines.

The Information Technology Division of Lehman College is responsible for technology delivery, leadership, and innovation to achieve Lehman’s strategic vision of transforming lives and communities. We deliver by being accountable for the reliable, service-oriented, and transparent management of computing, data, network, and telecommunications, help desk, multimedia and applications and web resources that are responsive to the needs of the College. We lead by implementing contemporary technologies that enhance the quality of teaching, learning, research, and work experiences, adding measurable value for the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and communities we serve. We innovate by advancing a forward-thinking, seamless, and collaborative technology environment that increases efficiency and ensures the highest quality education.
Reporting to the Director of IT Enterprise Application Services, Busniess Intelligence Developer will perform and develop a wide variety of data visualizations to be used by the college community. Lehman College full-time employees have a 35- hours workweek.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Generate, organize, and maintain business interfaces; these include, dashboards, data visualizations, regular and impromptu reports, and data querying tools for users to get the information they require.
• Formulate business and academic requirements for the reporting layer and translate them into technical requirements. Write technical documentation, user manuals and data dictionaries.
• Architect, design, develop, test, integrate, deploy, maintain, and debug the interface (s) that will deliver useful information to end users.
• Work in collaboration with the Senior Database Administrator in database tables design, data modeling and curating reports necessary to be consumed by the BI interface.
• Explain and present data visualization outputs to end users from different professional backgrounds. Deploy AI interfaces to facilitate automated information analysis.
• Ensure compliance with security, data integrity, web accessibility and actively contribute to team standards.
• Collaborate with business owners/stakeholders from across the college to develop dashboards to support data-driven decisions.
• Constantly seeks and maintains an understanding of the various College’s business processes and applies expertise to identify problems through data analysis Research and recommend trends in the information technology areas geared towards enhancing the academic experience of the student community.
• Practice disciplined software engineering (e.g. automated testing, code reviews, and writing beautiful, readable SQL code).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate’s degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver’s license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
• Thorough understanding of BI architecture and development. Proven experience working with BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI and others.
• Proven experience querying databases and developing data-driven presentation tools and strong dashboards development, including experience writing manuals and guides for web-based dashboards and reporting tools.
• Solid knowledge of the system development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, Section 508 compliance, ADA, general web functions, web, and security standards.
• Ability to work closely with technical teams to document, test and assure business requirements are met.
• Ability to communicate technical information to end users and to translate business requirements into technical functionalities.
• Strong grasp of security principles and how they apply to BI solutions, Web Services and APIs for data integration and load.
• Proven experience working independently and in small and large teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a high demand environment.
• Ability to learn and transition to new technologies as required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and root cause analysis. Ability to identify opportunities and improve current processes.
COMPENSATION
IT Associate assignment level will be assigned based on candidate’s education & experience above qualification requirements.
Level I Salary: $72,209
Level II Salary: $79,677
Level III Salary: $89,639

Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
