The ideal candidate for this role has experience proactively communicating with and mobilizing large audiences in-person and through a variety of platforms. They have experience working across a variety of departments and can navigate the complexity inherent in a University. Expertise on how to manipulate data and develop actionable analytics is critical, facility with digital platforms is essential and an entrepreneurial mindset is helpful. Will supervise the Associate Director of Student Engagement to facilitate a comprehensive approach while working closely with campus partners and the Director of Family Giving. 1. Provide parents with a one-stop-shop for all things Lehigh, actively engaging them as valued constituents and partners in their students’ personal development, academic success and career prospects
*Organize all resources for Lehigh parents and act as a hub to provide answers about everything from Move in Day, financial aid, career resources, student clubs and activities and academic services
*Ensure the parents website stays vibrant and up to date with relevant and helpful information
*Communicate University news and information regularly through email, the parents Facebook page and other media as opportunities arise
*Develop and manage FAQs for Development and Alumni Relation’s (DAR) constituent service partner, Aureon, and use feedback to continuously update and improve communications
2. Connect regularly with campus partners to ensure a comprehensive approach to Family Engagement
*Identify and amplify current programs and activities at Lehigh that incorporate or could incorporate parents
*Develop programs to encourage parent to parent connections, such as welcome calls to new families or regional gatherings over academic breaks
*Partner with the Director of Family Giving to identify, engage and steward major gift prospects; offer updates at biannual Parents’ Council meetings
*Leverage Giving Day and Crowdfunding programs to encourage giving from unassigned parents
3. Act as the Business Lead for parent and family events
*Spearhead the 3-day Family Weekend every fall, primarily for first-year students, working closely with the Events Team and campus partners including Athletics, the Center for Career and Professional Development and the four undergraduate colleges
*Work with regional staff to plan and attend some Sendoffs, which are 20-25 events around the country that introduce new families to each other and to the alumni in their areas
*Produce Commencement events including the Legacy Lunch, a 200 person plated event, and the First Generation Celebration, a 350+ person event on Goodman Campus immediately following graduation ceremony
4. Shepherd internal DAR processes and policies around engaging parents and families
*Suggest parents as event hosts and speakers, volunteer leaders and mentors, to bring them into the fabric of Lehigh engagement
*Work with Executive Team and other DAR staff to vet and recommend staff training related to family dynamics and support for students
*Represent parental interests as DAR transitions to a new database, which will offer the unique opportunity to build an informational system that could make family connections more visible
5. Supervise the Associate Director of Student Engagement, whose accountabilities are below
*Grow and enhance the work of the student group the Association of Student Alumni (ASA) to build class affinity, educate the student body on philanthropy and alumni engagement and facilitate stronger connections between alumni and students
*Facilitate cross-campus collaboration with partners on appropriate programs, events or initiatives
*Develop, execute and manage an overall student engagement program based in educating students about the impact and importance of giving back to Lehigh University; utilize existing programs and investigate the need for new initiatives to meet the needs of the current student body
6. Support other members of the Alumni Relations Team and DAR colleagues; complete general office duties as expected
*Support programs housed within the Alumni Relations team, and others within DAR, to ensure successful outcomes
*Complete general office duties proactively in a timely manner including budget maintenance, timesheets, expense report reconciliation, calendar maintenance, etc.
*Provide customer service to internal and external constituents as requested and needed
*Proactively assist alumni and staff to solve problems; suggest or initiate changes and improvements to Departmental processes or procedures
