Berkeley Lab’s (LBNL) Biological Systems and Engineering (BSE) Division has a new and exciting Postdoctoral Fellow opportunity to work on a highly collaborative team. The Mukhopadhyay Lab focuses on studying microbial functional genomics and microbial signaling for important microbes and microbial communities from unusual environments. Signaling is a fascinating aspect of microbial stress response and survival and at Berkeley Lab we use cutting edge technology such as DAP-seq to examine this. Checkout the Mukhopadhyay Group at https://m-group.lbl.gov/ and the ENIGMA project at https://enigma.lbl.gov/.
In this role you will focus on key aspects of examining newly discovered and isolated bacterial systems from various pristine and contaminated energy related environments. You will work on a project focusing on key aspects of examining signaling and horizontal gene transfer in environmentally critical bacterial l systems from various pristine and contaminated sites. You will use both computational and wet lab approaches to examine molecular level responses to various external stresses such as high nitrate and metal contaminations and use cutting edge Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) methods to discover new regulatory signaling networks in model and non-model microbes.
This position has an anticipated start date of October 1, 2023.
