About This Role:
The Facility Maintenance Technician, Senior (Electrical) is an integral specialty within the Facilities Maintenance department. This position is generally assigned to the electrical section, where the candidate will be expected to perform tasks at an apprentice competency level, and work assisting electrical specialists. However, based upon departmental priorities, an employee may be required to work temporarily with other specialties/trades, depending on the need and situation. The candidate may also be required to work variable shifts and occasional overtime. Work may involve exposure to inclement outdoor weather. Candidate must follow all departmental safety rules and regulations. He/she will assist specialized trades and may often work independently with little direct supervision, performing less specialized tasks. Candidate may be required to work flexible hours and perform other duties as required.
This position is considered as essential, and employees will be required to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to emergency situations or natural disasters. These technicians typically work under the direct supervision of the assigned maintenance trade supervisor.

Key Competencies:
Work requires a broad working knowledge of electrical theory, and the associated principles, materials, and equipment. The candidate must possess enough skills to perform general electrical maintenance and have the competency to work independently in the performance of less complex maintenance trouble calls. Employees are expected to lead by example, demonstrating the highest level of ethics. They are expected to work together to meet the needs of the department and university, by providing exemplary customer service to the staff, faculty and students.
Physical Requirements:
Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work. Some combination of climbing and balancing, to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crawling, working at heights and working in confined spaces. May involve the lifting of moderately heavy objects, up to 45 pounds. Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual/electrically powered tools.
