The Herbert V. Kohler, Jr. Chair for Business & Entrepreneurship leads Lakeland’s experiential learning efforts in its downtown
Sheboygan property and oversees the leadership and operations of Launch, Lakeland’s student-run businesses. The Chair plays a central role
in the development of a sustainable business model for Lakeland’s downtown property and supports our educational mission by engaging
community stakeholders and students in experiential learning opportunities that support the academic curriculum. The Chair also will teach
courses in business and entrepreneurship and candidates possessing a terminal degree may be eligible for a tenure-track faculty appointment.
This person serves as a spokesperson for Lakeland with media and external groups as it relates to Lakeland’s vision for community-focused
entrepreneurship and student-run businesses. The Chair is expected to be highly engaged in the local community, representing Lakeland when
appropriate and identifying opportunities for Lakeland to be a community resource and partner. Priority consideration will be given to
applications received by April 4, 2022. The position will remain posted until April 11, 2022.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teach six credits per term (12-month contract), in the business and technology
division.
Oversee business operations for Jake’s, a Lakeland Community. Work with students and community stakeholders to
develop short-term and long-term plans for the space that facilitates the expansion of cooperative education and project-based learning.
Secure mentoring opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs while elevating Lakeland’s academic brand in the community.
Mentor and advise students interested in pursuing entrepreneurial ventures. Bring real-world entrepreneurial and business experiences
into Lakeland’s curriculum.
Facilitate current and new programs engaging local high school students in entrepreneurial
work (e.g., Innovator Fellowship, INCubatoredu).
Expand offerings of Launch’s Develop U program, creating accessible
professional development programming for local employers and community members.
Facilitate an active Board of Advocates
for Jake’s, a Lakeland Community. Leverage regional professionals and stakeholders to continue developing strategic plans for the facility
and expansion of cooperative education and student-run businesses.
Coordinate with Co-Op office and faculty to deliver
opportunities for learning and engagement between students and community stakeholders.
Leverage Lakeland’s downtown
facility to develop new revenue streams for the University.
Participate in committee and related work as assigned.
Support other strategic initiatives as requested.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW &
SKILLS
A minimum of a master’s degree in a business-related field is required.
Strong
written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated entrepreneurial experience.
Excellent organizational skills.
Teaching experience preferred.
Ability to work independently and
operate effectively within a team environment.
Ability to inspire colleagues to work in collaboration to move ideas
forward in support of the public good.
Experience working with budgets.
Experience with managing
facilities and business infrastructure.
Knowledge and skill in the use of computers and common software applications.
Occasional travel may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
No or very limited exposure to physical risk;
Some limited physical effort required;
Work is normally
performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
