The full-time department secretary serves as the administrative assistant for the chairperson and faculty in the department. This position requires independent judgment in the completion and prioritization of various tasks, excellent verbal and written communication skills, multitasking, and strong information management skills. With the help of the chair, the department secretary takes the lead on course scheduling and registration, managing department budgets and purchases, departmental communication, preparing forms and reports, and other similar activities of an academic department. An eagerness to work with diverse populations is essential. The position requires confident and creative use of various software and information systems: PeopleSoft, SAP, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Zoom, and various tools for navigating the Internet.
