IT Support technician

F. Korbel & Bros. has an open Information Services position for an IT Support Technician in the Guerneville office.

Currently seeking an IT Support Technician to support, troubleshoot, administer, and maintain a wide range of technologies relating to desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, various peripherals and other vendor specific hardware and software. Deploys various hardware and software applications leveraging enterprise deployment tools. Provides Tier 1 & 2 end-user support by assisting users on hardware and software questions/issues, installing, maintaining, and upgrading equipment, running diagnostics to isolate problems, and recommending possible solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1 & Tier 2 end-user support and hardware/software technical support by expeditiously resolving help desk support tickets.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain various computer and network hardware including desktops, laptops, kiosks, printers, wireless access points, mobile devices, peripherals, etc.
• Maintain desktop and laptop images by updating and deploying appropriate operating systems and core business applications using native and third-party deployment tools.
• Create support tickets, document issue details and route to proper technician; review active support tickets and ensure timely resolution.
• Respond to end-user questions and needs and provide guidance; Follow up with requestor and confirm issue(s) has been resolved and needs have been met.
• Perform computer upgrades and replace failed systems by coordinating schedules, scope of objectives, and standards.
• Assist outside vendor personnel with problem identification, installation of hardware and peripheral components; coordinate hardware repairs with vendors as needed.
• Assist with network user account management; enable/disable, unlock, password changes/resets, etc.
• Assist with installation, configuration and ongoing maintenance of company point of sale system.
• In coordination with other team members, assist with network software installation and problem troubleshooting as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and IT Manager on continuous process improvement.
• Assist with new user training, creating & maintaining department documentation, policies and procedures as well as enforcing existing corporate policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications

• AA degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience and knowledge in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of experience supporting Microsoft Windows platforms and Office products.
• Strong troubleshooting skills; Windows OS kernel, driver & firmware compatibility, BSOD’s, system performance tuning, system dump troubleshooting, Windows registry editing and troubleshooting, Etc.
• Strong knowledge and experience of computer imaging deployment tools and operating system/application patch management.
• Basic understanding of networking. Can configure Cisco switch ports and terminate Cat6 cables.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers and management using an appropriate level of technical and business language concerning assigned work orders, projects, and issues/problems.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from users, managers, etc.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Be a team player with outstanding communication skills.
• Possess a valid California Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
