Department Information
The Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology is the second-largest engineering college in Georgia, with about 5,000 students. Students receive hands-on learning experiences from industry-expert faculty in the University’s state-of-the-art facilities to produce Georgia’s next generation of integrated engineers with technical knowledge, intellectual depth, and experience in professional skills. With two programs in the Top 20 largest programs, the college has the third-largest African American student enrollment among engineering colleges. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has more than 785 undergraduate students and 18 full-time faculty members. The faculty are committed to growing a program that is nationally recognized for providing outstanding education to aspiring engineers, as well as peer-reviewed research with relevance. Scholarship in the Department includes both industry- and government-funded research projects focused on the practical applications of engineering principles. The department houses a well-established Masters degree program and is part of a newly established and fast-growing Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program.

Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering faculty position in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering that begins August 2023.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the position include research, teaching, and service.
The ideal candidate will bring an established record or a promise of a vigorous, interdisciplinary, and sustainable externally funded research program in Water Resources Engineering. The ideal candidate will have a research specialization in one or more of the following areas: water infrastructure, climate change, machine learning in water resources, groundwater recharge, experimental fluid mechanics, rapid flood forecasting, data analytics, geographic information systems, optimization, advanced remote sensing, or other emerging areas that would complement existing strengths within the department. The candidate is expected to supervise thesis and dissertations and support/mentor graduate students.
The successful candidate will teach both graduate and undergraduate courses and laboratories throughout the curriculum, with an emphasis on Water Resources, Fluid Mechanics, and Hydraulics. Classes are conducted on the Marietta campus of Kennesaw State University and are offered during both daytime and evening hours. Faculty are expected to teach in a variety of instructional modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, flipped classroom, and online.
Service activities will include student advising, mentoring, and outreach activities to ensure student success as well as participation in department, college, and university committees and the professional community.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
A Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required.
