General Information |
The Talent Development Department of James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for the Director of Talent Development position. The Director of Talent Development leads the Talent Development Department which is housed in the Human Resources, Training and Performance Unit. The Talent Development Department is located in a facility with three well-equipped and dedicated facilitation spaces and includes a staff of four who provide instructional design, administrative oversight, instructor-led training, event management, marketing, and organizational development facilitation for classified staff, wage employees and administrative and professional faculty of the university. The Director also coordinates the work of over 120 volunteer facilitators who deliver instruction to staff each year. |
Duties and Responsibilities |
The Director of Talent Development provides leadership including vision, coaching, encouragement and performance evaluation to members of the Talent Development staff. In addition, the Director provides vision, leadership and management for the Talent Development department’s strategic plan and ensures that the strategic plan is aligned with the university mission, vision and values. The Director is responsible for providing relevant, interesting, engaging and impactful training for JMU administrative and professional faculty, full-time classified staff and part-time wage employees. The Director ensures creative use of a wide variety of training and development delivery modes and human resource development interventions. The Director is also expected to design instruction, conduct instructor-led training, facilitate organizational development interventions, and provide mission, vision, values and strategic planning for various campus departments. Much of the training conducted by the department is done through on and off-campus volunteers including existing faculty and staff of the university and local community members. The Director is responsible for attracting, managing and inspiring volunteers who partner with Talent Development to provide high quality training and development opportunities for employees. |

Notice of Availability – Annual Security and Fire Safety Report The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information. The JMU Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes the Harrisonburg campus and the three overseas branch campuses; Florence, Antwerp, and London.
