Job Title: Employee Health and Safety Assistant
Position Description: The EHS Assistant, reporting to the EHS Manager is responsible for conducting safety audits, investigating accidents, and developing safety programs.
The EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring that quality training and best safety practices are in place for a safe and effective workplace.
Major Areas of Responsibility
· Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures.
· Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines and OSHA guidelines
· Conduct accident prevention training and health and safety training
· Inspect equipment for unsafe workplace conditions
· Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies
· Investigate accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures for further incidents
· Suggest solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for safety issues
· Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics
· Work with the EHS Manager and HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety
· Conduct risk assessment
· Enforce preventative measures
· Recruit and train safety committee team members
· Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes
· Protects company’s value by keeping employee’s health information confidential.
· Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
· All other duties as assigned
Skills
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· 3-5 years of experience in Health and Safety.
· Understanding of OSHA standards.
· Completed OSHA training (minimum OSHA 30)
· Ability to communicate clear objectives, provide feedback, and suggest improvement for individual performance.
· Clear understanding of the importance of creating and maintaining a collaborative safety culture.
· Exceptional organizational, planning, and executing and problem-solving skills.
· Needs to have integrity and be honest in all dealings.
· Ability to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.
· Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standard
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Reliable, responsible, dependable, and consistent in fulfilling obligations.
· Careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
· Ability to travel (50%), Travel is mostly locally among plants
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety preferred.
· A minimum of 3 years of experience in employee health and safety in a manufacturing environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour
