The Student Judicial Officer implements compliance with the student code of conduct to ensure the protection of student rights and the health and safety of the College community, as well as to support the efficient operation of college programs.
Responsible for the day-to-day operations and the development of ongoing positive relationships with students, faculty and colleagues and provides service to a diverse campus population. This individual serves as the hearing officer for matters of student conduct cases requiring disciplinary action, coordinates appropriate community outreach and educational programming, and serves as a resource to members of the Jackson College community. Manages daily operations pertaining to the improvement, awareness and execution of the college’s Student Code of Conduct and Resident Handbook.
This position ensures that each complaint is efficiently processed and that student conduct records are accurately maintained. Demonstrates the integrity of the student conduct process by providing timely communication with students and appropriate personnel for each case and ensures that students’ rights are protected, and the College’s behavior standards are enforced.
Maintain schedule for review and update of college policies and ensure the most recent versions are posted on the college website. Assist in other areas of Human Resources during peak periods.

Education and/or Experience
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field. Minimum of two years of experience in higher education. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student, staff, faculty, and administrative population.
Preferred
Strong leadership ability and proven skills in conflict resolution, mediation, interpersonal communication, and decision-making. Experience in student services, residence life, and/or student judicial.
Language Skills (required)
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, student groups, classes, clubs, etc.
Math Skills (required)
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability (required)
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
