Job Summary
The Teaching with Primary Sources Midwest Region is funded by the Library of Congress to award grants for professional development for in-service teachers, pre-service teachers, and library information specialists in 17 states in the Midwest. The TPS Midwest Regional staff also conducts professional development workshops that focus on the use of digitized primary sources from the Library of Congress to enrich classroom instruction. The program contributes to the quality of education by helping teachers use the Library’s primary sources to engage students, develop their critical thinking skills, and construct knowledge. Professional development opportunities include online workshops, seminars, collaborative work with other TPS Consortium members, and mentoring to teachers in all disciplines.
This position assists the project director with the project’s grant management tasks and preparing and conducting the professional development opportunities offered by the TPS Midwest Region.
This is a non-continuous, grant funded position. The initial appointment will end on September 30, 2024, the end of the current grant year. Appointment renewal for the following grant year will be based upon available grant funding and performance.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience, combined with an excellent benefits package
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree
2. 3 or more years of K-12 teaching experience
3. Excellent written communication skills to support the TPS Director in writing proposals and reports.
4. Excellent oral communication skills including the ability to present at local, state, and national conferences.
5. Demonstrates the ability to organize and analyze data.
6. Proficiency in computer use and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and the Internet.
7. Willingness to learn and to use new hardware devices as well as new computer applications.
8. Willingness to actively take part in TPS Consortium committees and other Consortium activities.
9. Willingness to travel long distances for conferences and meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Knowledge of current K-12 educational trends.
2. Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
3. Attention to detail.
4. Sense of collaboration and willingness to share ideas, achieve goals of the TPS program, and maintain a safe, friendly, and non-competitive workspace.
Work Hours
Generally Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional weekend and evening hours and travel as business needs dictate.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

2. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
3. Move about in various locations on campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
