Title: Assistant to Department Chair and Director of Student Services

Job Summary
This position supports the administrative leadership of the Chairperson, Dept. of Sociology and Anthropology, and functions in all aspects of the Department’s development and business operations including, but not limited to: undergraduate student advisement and student services, budget management, enrollment management, public relations, and publications and special projects. This position also serves as the academic advisor for the Latin American and Latino Studies Program.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience, combined with an excellent benefits package
Required Qualifications
1. Master’s degree.
2. Public speaking and report writing skills required.
3. Experience with academic advisement of college students.
4. University teaching experience
5. Computer skills- Microsoft proficiency.
6. Budgeting abilities.
7. Knowledge of enrollment management policies.
8. Oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
1. Previous administrative experience in undergraduate education, including curriculum and assessment, is preferred.
2. Background in Social Sciences.
Work Hours
Generally Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional weekend and evening hours as business needs dictate.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
2. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
