The Director of the SDCC leads a diverse group of statisticians and data science professionals who
provide advanced statistical analysis and research design expertise to Center Directors, faculty, research teams, fellows and students
engaged in research and data projects across the Centers of Excellence.
The Director will provide thought leadership, partner with
senior leaders to create innovative research projects, and set a strategic path for research and data science innovation while ensuring the
most rigorous, high-quality deliverables.
The Director of the SDCC will be responsible for leading the design of statistical
analysis plans for research studies; managing data; performing statistical analyses independently; creating reports intended for internal
and external audiences; creating presentations and white papers; and interfacing with Centers of Excellence directors, researchers, and
faculty to provide support in preparing peer-reviewed journal articles.
The incumbent in this position will provide
leadership and direction for the SDCC to collect, manage, analyze, and accurately interpret and report health science data across multiple
research entities at Howard University.
Under the guidance of the Director, the SDCC will perform complex statistical
analyses for a variety of clinical and health science research projects, and ensure statistical analyses are conducted with the highest
level of scientific integrity, while meeting deadlines.
This position reports to the Principal Investigator
of the Centers of Excellence.
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:
This position will directly supervise SDCC staff and
students. Plans, assigns, and evaluates the work of subordinates.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Internal contacts include
administrators, faculty, staff, and students both within the department and University-wide.
External contacts include local and federal government agencies, community-based organizations, health care
organizations, vendors, visitors, officials, and the general public.
