Our course descriptions must be accurate so HCC students can make the best academic choices, and youâll play a major role in helping us stay on point. Youâll be involved with every part of the process, starting when you receive an application for a new program or curriculum revision, through the writing phase and adding it to PeopleSoft and CurricUNET, and making sure the addition or change makes it into our upcoming catalog.
This is an interesting role where you might assist with a degree audit in the morning, and input data and work on our annual report for the Gulf Coast Regional Council in the afternoon. If you enjoy variety and want to be a part of the student experience here at HCC, weâd love to hear from you.
JobSummaryThe Curriculum Specialist developscurricula, documents educational and career and technical courses andprocesses. Maintain curriculum for assigned program, course descriptions, andother relevant instructional pages and annually produce updated program degreeplans. Assist in writing, editingprogram materials, and compiling special projects. ESSENTIALFUNCTIONSProvides assistance to councils andcommittees involved in the development of new curriculum and revisions ofexisting curriculum via various communication channels. Stays informed of industry needs andtrends to ensure alignment of curriculum with area needs. May assist with degree audit asnecessary. Develops and maintains manuals andhandbooks detailing required format, procedures, and timelines as resourceinformation. Monitors curricula requests for newprograms or program revisions for accuracy; submits all program information,including local needs and special topics courses to the assigned agency. Participates in the development andevaluation of new curriculum. Conducts research and consults with faculty,staff, organizational leadership, and business representatives in the designand development of new curriculum. Coordinates the review/assessment ofcurrent curriculum to ensure that course/program is meeting intended objectivesand funding agencies, d accreditation requirements. Monitors Program/Course descriptions andprogram files electronically for currency and coordinates information withPeopleSoft. Submits all program additions, deletionsand revisions electronically to PeopleSoft utilizing correct format. Assists in preparing instructionalmaterials for the College and proofreads/prepares course descriptions anddegree plans for assigned area. Uses web applications and appropriatetechnology to perform all of the above tasks. Performs other duties, tasks andassignments as required. QUALIFICATIONSEducation& Experience
